You don’t feel ready to sell (that’s the point)

When we moved into our new house just before Christmas, I noticed something ...

Birds hopping around the old pergola outside the dining room window. Four empty feeders hanging there, and a very hopeful robin doing his best to look casual about the whole thing.

I meant to fill them that week.

Then other things came up. You know how it goes. So it stayed on my list, quietly nagging at me every time I sat down to work.

I didn’t do it. Again. And again.

Three months, those feeders were empty. 🙈

Last week I finally did it. Bulk bought an unreasonable amount of bird feed (currently hidden from Alfie, who would happily chomp through it all in mere seconds!) ... the birds were there within minutes.

They’d been hopping around hopefully the entire time. Ready and waiting. They just needed me to actually do the thing.

Here’s the thing about selling

You don’t wake up one day suddenly feeling ready to sell.
Confidence intact. No nerves. No hesitation.
That’s not how it works.

Most people I work with don’t feel ready and that’s completely normal.

But waiting until you feel ready means the feeders stay empty.

Uncomfortable truth: you start selling - and that’s how you become ready.

This is what I teach inside the sales circle - the second of the three circles in my Intentional Methodology. (If you missed me telling you about the Life circle you can read it here.)

And here’s what I want to be really clear about:

There is no single right way to sell.
No bro marketing required.
No guru-led blueprint that everyone has to follow.

👉🏻 There are lots of ways to sell. Some will suit you. Some absolutely won’t.

What we do together inside The Dream Business Society is figure out which ones feel good to you ... aligned with your values, your energy, your personality ... and then get you doing those things consistently.

Because sell you must.

The birds don’t care that it took you three months.
They just care that you filled the feeders.

We're nearly a third of the way through 2026. 😲 Which feels simultaneously impossible and completely believable. I don't usually do the "here's what I've achieved" email because it can tip into braggy look-at-me territory pretty fast. But I've been reflecting on the year so far and there are a few things worth sharing if only because writing it down makes it feel real. So. Four months in. Here's (some of) what's actually happened. ✨ My email list has grown by over 50% since January. And the...

Last week I was on a training workshop with a brilliant content creator called Ruthie (if you don't follow her, you should) and she was helping us uplevel our sales pages. Ruthie has a brain like mine. She moves fast. And when she said "ok, draft something" ... she meant we had approximately 90 seconds. 😆 First exercise? My brain was still pretty focused on racing back into the house after an unexpected school run (anxious daughter that morning means I took her to school and stayed to chat...

*Tired sigh* These last few days have been ... a lot! 🙄 In our family, life is 'life-ing' in a way that feels very real and very unpredictable right now. And as a solo business owner? You know what I mean when I say that the unpredictability is tricky to handle. So here's what I'm doing (and not doing) to get through ... ✅ I'm showing up for my clients: 1:1 calls, group sessions - these are top of the 'keep doing' list. 👉🏻 Everything else is getting a ruthless renegotiation. Meetings...
